Tonight- SUCKED!

Hey,

So, I haven’t been on the treadmill since…don’t hate me…Thursday.

Friday night I went to a friends house. Saturday night I was too sleepy to even think about working out, and Sunday night was pretty much the same. Well, Sunday I was outside standing on a bridge for 4 hours watching snow machines go across open water. For those who have me on Facebook, check out my album and the couple of videos I posted! Smile

So anyway, back to tonight. I watched Dancing With The Stars (Woo! Go Kirstie Alley and Chris Jericho!) and then decided to work out. Now, as you may know, I’ve been using the Couch to 5K app on the iPod Touch. Great program! Apparently, you’re only supposed to do it 3 times a week, so it did kind of work out well. Anyway, up til now, I’ve been doing 60 seconds of jogging, and 90 seconds of walking. Which worked out well and was even getting to the point that it was getting easier. Well, apparently when you hit week 2 it goes to 90 seconds jogging, 2 minutes walking. You would think this would be easier…but nooooo….

I crapped out. Not literally, but I hit the 16 minute mark and started to see black dots in my vision. Not a good thing. So I got it back to a slow walk and tried to cool off. No such luck. So I had to cop out, when there was fifteen minutes left. Almost half way through. Which sucked ass, no offense to anyone out there. I feel so disappointed in myself, but I know that if I had of kept going I would have passed out and that would not have ended well at all. So, I got off the treadmill, and stretched for a good 5 minutes, really focusing on my legs. And I was sitting on a cement floor which was an added bonus! Even music didn’t help today. Frig!

So I’m going to do 2 days of working out, 1 day off. A friend of mine told me that I need a rest day, and he’s been doing this since January. Which totally makes sense to me! Right now I’m feeling sick to my stomach and my mouth hurts which is a sign of ibuprofin wearing off and needing water. So this is all I’m going to write tonight, going off to read a bit and get myself settled down.

Thanks for reading, drop me a line if you’d like!

Singing…..

Hey All!
So I didn’t do my intervals last night, and I also didn’t update…I know, I know, I’m bad. I did walk last night though, and had the incline up so I did burn SOME calories! And I broke a sweat!

Tonight I thought I’d try something new. I’ve been in a George Strait mood (Oh good lord, he’s incredible!) and so I figured I would listen to him while working out. Great idea, right? Right. Well, as I’d just watched Pure Country (Good movie! :D ) I figured I’d use one of those songs. This is what I came up with:

That’s right, Overnight Male. That’s what I worked out to tonight. This on repeat.

But I also realized that if I sing while I’m running, I don’t get as tired. I think it’s a psychological thing, if I’m not thinking about the fact that I’m literally running til I drop, then I won’t get as tired. I must have been quite the sight though, out of breath but still singing “Like the pony express and the wild wild west, *cough* I’ll ride hard all night long, And I can saddle up fast get you there first class, *wheeze* long before the dawn. You know your *inhale slowly* male’s gonna get to you come snow, rain, sleet or hail…” *gasp gasp gasp* lol. I don’t know…it seemed to work. Although I sort of got tired of the song after a while so….

Baha, oh, Vince Gill with an odd mullet thing and George in a rather not nice looking blazer…oh, the Nineties…A horrible time for fashion…lol!

Anyway. That’s my story. George Strait is helping me get skinny! Haha!

Seriously though, as tiring as they are, the intervals seem to be working. I was exhausted after tonight's session, but I don’t know if that's because I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather with my mouth or if I was just really tired going into it. Either way, I’m really liking the running thing, it seems to be working…Although I got a calf spasm tonight which hurt like a  $%@#! !!!!!

Ok, I need sleep, I’ll update as soon as I can. Thanks for reading, and as usual, drop me a line! Smile
Happy Running!

And Another One Bites The Dust…

Hiya!

Just completed another interval, good lord these things are tiring! But I got through it. I did notice though that I didn’t get as tired as fast. Does that make sense? I got to the 13 minute mark, then started to feel the effects…Which is a step up from last night where it was the 7 minute mark, lol!

I also kept water by me at all times, and I’m not sure if that was a good thing or not. In one respect, it kept me hydrated and cool. On the other it kept me feeling queasy and slightly nauseous. Any helpful hints for that one?

Today was a good day, had some company and a friend of the family brought me homemade cinnamon buns; he promised he’d make me some about 5 years ago, and I’m just now collecting! LOL! They were delicious though! Hence why I had to buy a treadmill!

Have a dentist appointment tomorrow, not really looking forward to it, but it needs to be done and I hope it will make me feel better, if not it will give me something to do, keep me out of trouble! Haha! Plus, for like an hour before I get to wander the mall….good or bad, we’ll see! :P

Bon Jovi and Johnny Reid are definitely helpful when keeping me motivated during my workouts. I have a playlist specifically for the treadmill, full of Keith Urban, Bon Jovi, Kid Rock, Johnny Reid…pretty much any fast song I have in my iTunes library…which is quite a bit! Thank god for music or I’d never do this.

I have an ultimate goal when this is all over. I want to be comfortable enough in my own skin to make a road trip. By myself. To somewhere other than Ontario. Out west? Down east? I don’t know. Hell, maybe I’ll go to Ireland. But I want that to be my congratulatory “Hey girl, you did it!” thing. Makes sense in my head, lol!

Anyway. I have a bit of a headache. Don’t know if its from the workout, or if it’s from my tooth, but its aching pretty good. So I’m going to cut this off a bit shorter tonight. Take some tylenol and read a bit perhaps. I don’t know yet.

Thanks for reading, and as usual, comments are encouraged! :)

Legs hurt sooooo much today. Not used to all this running! Doing laundry and such around the house, then trying the next level of intervals.
The program I'm using is called Couch to 5K and its a 9 week program. Everyday, you move up a level until your able to run a full 5K without walking or stopping. That's my goal!
I'll keep y'all updated (yeah, I said y'all. I went there!) On my progress, and will update this later on tonight!
Talk to you soon! :)

What This Blog Will Be About…

Hello out there in Cyberville! Smile

I’m Ashley. I’m 20 years old, soon to be 21, living in a small town, doing the typical small town thing. Nothing much exciting there…

The only reason I started another blog was so I could let someone know about my excitement. I bought a treadmill. And tonight, for the first time EVER I actually started intervals. I’ve wanted to do this for ages, but never could get up the nerve to. I guess spending an insane amount of money on a treadmill will do that to you. Jeepers, they aren’t cheap!

I ran for 60 seconds, then walked for 1:30. The program I’m using (Couch to 5K for the iPod touch) is supposed to bring me up to running 5 kilometers in just 9 weeks. Can it be done? Hmmm…That’s what I’m going to test.

I’ve never ran before. I’m chunky, always have been. But this year for Christmas I bought myself a key necklace, and many people have asked me “Who’s heart its for” and I’ve came to the conclusion that it’s going to be my key to happiness, that this year I’m actually going to work towards getting past everything that keeps bringing me down and becoming a better person, a more relaxed person, someone who isn’t afraid to do things. So here I am. Blogging to probably no one. About my happiness.

I’m ready to lose some weight. I’ve got a Keith Urban concert coming up (SQUEEEEEEEE) and a photo shoot in the fall. So I want to try to lose some before then. And I think running can do it. I find that I can get in a zone and completely block out the world. I hope this works!

As you can probably tell, I’m a pretty random blogger; I jump from one topic to another, but if you can keep up, it would be greatly appreciated.

Replies are always welcome. Any words of encouragement and such would mean a lot, so if you can, take a second and drop me a line! Smile

Til next time!
